It is with great sadness and sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our friend and colleague, Don Eirich. Don was involved in Southeast Asian affairs for more than 40 years, serving two tours in the Vietnam War as a Marine Corps Officer. Don was appointed Director of Southeast Asian Affairs in the Office of the Secretary of Defense and was awarded the Medal for Outstanding Public Service for his contributions to defense policy during the Marcos/Aquino transition in the Philippines. Upon leaving government service, Don was appointed North American representative for Indonesian Aircraft Industries by company CEO and later President of Indonesia, Dr. B.J. Habibie. Don continued his involvement in Indonesian affairs when he was appointed as the congressional relations officer for the United States-Indonesia Society. Don was an instrumental supporter of Indonesia and its role in the global environment. His passing is a huge loss not only to Trans Pacific Partners but to the many people he served throughout the world.
