Trans Pacific Partners is providing foreign relations and area expertise to a well-known U.S. defense contractor, which specializes in military training and law enforcement, to develop the concept and training methodology for a “Whole of Government” approach to disaster management. The objective is to introduce and promote an “all hazards” approach to disaster mitigation internationally, assisting governments, regional and international organizations to adopt a comprehensive approaches regarding structure, doctrine, strategy and capabilities assessment that are appropriate for each circumstance and level of development. Based on training modules developed for domestic United States agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. defense Northern Command (NORTHCOM), TPP is working with regional U.S. military commands, FEMA, USAID, and the Department of Defense to encourage the adoption of comprehensive measures. TPP also has relationships with the United Nations, ASEAN, APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum), and several governments to further the “Whole of Government” approach.
