Figge has worked on critical issues related to the United States- Indonesia relationship since 1993. He began his career as a student in 1991 while conducting an ethnographic field study on the Angkola Batak in Tapanuli Selatan, North Sumatra. Figge holds a Bachelors degree in Southeast Asian History from the College of the Holy Cross; Worcester, MA and a Masters degree from St. Thomas University; Minneapolis, MN. He has taught courses on Southeast Asian History, Colonial Indonesian History, and Modern Indonesian History.
After years of teaching, Figge became the head Research and Development for Rustick Energy; a Pennsylvania-based waste to energy company.
Currently, Figge advises a handful of clients with business interests in Indonesia. His clients are in the financial, energy and healthcare sectors. He has successfully set-up government affairs programs, obtained highly skilled legal representation, and assessed risk on numerous investment opportunities & potential partners in Indonesia for corporate clients. He travels to Indonesia monthly.
Figge is Vice-Chairman of the board of trustees of Jesuit Volunteers International. He served as a volunteer teacher from 1995-1997 in Truk, Federated States of Micronesia. He also serves on the United States-Indonesia Society’s board of advisors. Figge speaks Bahasa Indonesia.
